AIRSO National Blue Light Users Conference

Tuesday 28th August to Thursday 30th August
10:00am – 4:00pm
Barcelo Hinckley Island Hotel, Hinckley, Leicestershire.
The Annual National Blue Light Users’ Conference is aimed at all those who manage or train drivers who during the course of their work drive emergency vehicles. It is also relevant to those who manage health and safety and occupational road risk issues for all staff within the emergency services and those who are involved in casualty reduction.
Over the years the Conference has become an important event in the diary for the emergency services and has gained a reputation and credibility with Government and its agencies and other organizations concerned in any way with the emergency services.
The 2012 National Blue Light Users’ Conference will take place this year over three days, Tuesday 28th August to Thursday 30th August at the Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire.
The Conference agenda will explore a range of issues by means of both short informative items and more traditional presentations. There will also be a period within the programme which will allow delegates to select from a range of different sessions. Some of the main themes will include:
- Managing the use of technology
- Managing the collision & blame culture
- Managing personal opinions
- Managing human behaviour
- Managing information
- Managing drivers
In 2012 The National Blue Light Users Conference incorporates the Annual Fire Service Driver Training Conference, which will take place on Tuesday afternoon commencing at 2 p.m. This is seen as part of this overall event.
As before you can download the booking form here, providing not only more details of the conference but also information on accommodation packages for all or part of the three-day conference.

AIRSO National Fleet Driver Trainer’s Conference

Thursday 30th August
10:00am – 4:00pm
Barcelo Hinckley Island Hotel, Hinckley, Leicestershire.
The National Fleet Driver Trainers’ conference is designed to bring together those who are engaged in training beyond that of licence acquisition and also to provide a platform for those looking to develop their business into other areas of driver training.
For sometime AIRSO had identified that the majority of conferences/seminars for driver trainers had centred around teaching learners but there was little for those who were involved in further training such as fleet work, driver rectification, advanced driver training and training involving classroom style workshops.
Equally, there seemed little which provided an opportunity for those who were working as in-house driver trainers in business.
Although the Conference, which was established in 2011, has assumed the title of National Fleet Driver Trainers Conference, the association recognises that the term “fleet” does not accurately describe the vast range of training taking place beyond any initial licence acquisition.
The event itself makes an important contribution in respect of driver trainers’ Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and is certificated accordingly.
National Fleet Driver Trainers’ Conference
The 2012 National Fleet Driver Trainers’ Conference will take place on Thursday 30th August at the Hinckley Island Hotel, Leicestershire (adjacent to J1 of M69). The Conference on Thursday commences at 10.00a.m. and will conclude at 4.00p.m.
The National Fleet Driver Trainers’ Conference is limited to 100 delegates and so early application is advised.
The Programme will explore a range of issues by a series of presentations, interactive exercises and discussion. the main topics will address a range of questions:
- What should the trainer be able to deliver?
- What teaching techniques are best suited in different circumstances?
- What should the trainer know about the mind set of their clients?
- Why is the driver trainer regarded as the “expert” and yet there is frequently a knowledge gap?
- What does the trainer need to know about how clients learn?
- What does business want from its trainer?
